The ex-White House strategist said that he is working to help the 47th president bypass the two-term limit<\/strong><\/p>\n

President Donald Trump will find a way to bypass the constitutional two-term limit and run again in 2028, former White House strategist Steve Bannon has said.<\/p>\n

The 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution states that \u201cno person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.\u201d<\/em> Bannon, who has been one of Trump\u2019s early supporters and led\u00a0his 2016 election campaign, has argued that Trump would be able to secure a third term.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/em>I\u2019m a firm believer that President Trump will run again in 2028. I\u2019ve already endorsed President Trump,\u201d Bannon told NewsNation\u2019s Chris Cuomo on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/em>A man like this comes along once every century if we\u2019re lucky. We\u2019ve got him now. He\u2019s on fire, and I\u2019m a huge supporter. I want to see him again in 2028,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Asked how Trump would bypass the constitutional ban on a third term, Bannon replied, \u201cWe\u2019re working on it.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI think we\u2019ll have a couple of alternatives, let\u2019s say that. We\u2019ll see what the definition of term limit is,\u201d<\/em> the former Breitbart News chairman said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/em>We\u2019ve had greater longshots than Trump 2028. We\u2019ve got a lot of stuff we\u2019re working on. We\u2019re not prepared to talk about it publicly.\u00a0<\/p>\n

When asked if he was implying a violent revolution or an insurrection, Bannon said, \u201cNo. We are big believers in democracy.\u201d<\/em> The strategist said that the Trump supporters intend to mobilize their voting base, including low-propensity and low-information voters.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Trump has repeatedly joked about the possibility that he could serve more than two terms. In January, he told a crowd of supporters in Nevada, \u201cIt will be the greatest honor of my life to serve, not once but twice or three times or four times.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Republican Congressman Andy Ogles proposed to amend the Constitution to allow presidents who did not serve two consecutive terms to serve three terms in total. \u201cIt is imperative that we provide President Trump with every resource necessary to correct the disastrous course set by the Biden administration,\u201d<\/em> Ogles said in January.<\/p>\n

Trump was first elected in 2016, defeating former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. He ran for reelection in 2020 but lost to former Vice President Joe Biden. Trump won his second term last year, defeating Biden\u2019s hand-picked successor, Kamala Harris.<\/p>\n
