A vault belonging to the group\u2019s late leader Hassan Nasrallah is allegedly hidden under a major Beirut hospital, according to the IDF<\/strong><\/p>\n

Israel has pinpointed a bunker allegedly containing hundreds of millions of dollars in Hezbollah gold and cash beneath a major hospital in the Lebanese capital, an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson, Daniel Hagari, has claimed.<\/p>\n

This statement came as Israel launched a series of airstrikes on Beirut, targeting the Al-Qard Al-Hassan Association \u2013 a banking system it claims is operated by the Lebanon-based Hezbollah movement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Israeli Air Force carried out a series of precise strikes on these Hezbollah financial strongholds,\u201d<\/em> Hagari said in a statement on Monday, adding that\u00a0the attacks aim to degrade the group\u2019s ability to finance its attacks on Israelis.<\/p>\n

The IDF has struck one\u00a0underground vault beneath a residential building, which held millions in cash and gold, he claimed. However,\u00a0another\u00a0major target that has yet to be struck is a bunker supposedly belonging to late Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, whom the IDF killed in late September, the spokesman added.<\/p>\n

The vault is reportedly located\u00a0\u201cdirectly under El Sahel Hospital in the heart of Beirut in Dakhia,\u201d<\/em> Hagari claimed, adding, that there are\u00a0\u201chundreds of millions of dollars in cash and gold inside the bunker right now.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The regional UN human rights office condemned the recent Israeli bombardments of Beirut and southern Lebanon, aimed at \u201cfacilities affiliated with the Al-Qard Al-Hassan financial association.\u201d<\/em> The attacks caused \u201cextensive destruction to residential properties and civilian infrastructure,\u201d<\/em> as well as \u201cindescribable panic and another wave of displacement among residents of those areas,\u201d<\/em> the UN Human Rights Office in the Middle East and North Africa stated on Monday.<\/p>\n

Under international humanitarian law, \u201cobjects that contribute economically or financially to the war effort of a party to a conflict\u201d<\/em> cannot be declared a legitimate target and lawfully attacked on that basis alone, the UN body asserted.<\/p>\n
