The draft laws on registered partnerships, which were discussed with non-governmental organizations, have been sent for public and inter-ministerial consultations,\u201d Kotula said on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, posing with the documents.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThis is a new chapter in the long march for equality, which, thanks to the many years of work of many LGBT organizations and civil society, has led us to this historic moment,\u201d<\/em> the minister added.<\/p>\n<p>The government of Prime Minister Donald Tusk has proposed establishing <em>\u201ccivil partnerships\u201d<\/em> between adults, irrespective of their sex, that would be registered with local authorities much as any other contract.<\/p>\n<p>        <span><strong>Read more<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/russia\/578349-estonia-legalizes-gay-marriage\/\">Ex-Soviet republic legalizes gay marriage<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Couples in such partnerships would then be able to establish joint property, or divide their property, via notarized deeds.<\/p>\n<p>Kotula told the Polish Press Agency PAP that the government had to <em>\u201ctake a step back\u201d<\/em> and make a compromise when it came to same-sex couples and adoption of children, however.<\/p>\n<p>According to the proposed bills, a person in the civil partnership is <em>\u201centitled to participate\u201d<\/em> in the care and raising of their partner\u2019s child residing in the household, including everyday decisions, <em>\u201cunless either of the parents exercising parental authority over the child objects.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The bills are now headed to inter-ministerial discussions and public consultations, before being considered by the parliament in Warsaw.<\/p>\n<p>Poland is one of five EU members that has not granted legal recognition to same-sex relationships, the others being Bulgaria, Lithuania, Romania and Slovakia.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Donald Tusk\u2019s government in Warsaw has proposed the creation of \u201ccivil partnerships,\u201d including between people of the same sex Read Full Article at RT.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":0,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1472","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-top-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
