{"id":1305,"date":"2024-09-11T21:18:28","date_gmt":"2024-09-11T15:48:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ainews.prativad.com\/index.php\/russian-orthodox-church-warns-of-ai-driven-apocalypse\/"},"modified":"2024-09-11T21:18:28","modified_gmt":"2024-09-11T15:48:28","slug":"russian-orthodox-church-warns-of-ai-driven-apocalypse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ainews.prativad.com\/index.php\/russian-orthodox-church-warns-of-ai-driven-apocalypse\/","title":{"rendered":"Russian Orthodox Church warns of \u2018AI-driven apocalypse\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p><strong>Artificial intelligence could pose a threat to human existence, according to Patriarch Kirill<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Patriarch Kirill, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, has warned of the challenges that the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) poses for mankind.<\/p>\n<p>The church leader made the remarks at the \u2018Culture of the 21st Century: Sovereignty or Globalism?\u2019 forum in St. Petersburg on Wednesday. <br \/><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIf humanity loses religious faith, particularly in the context of the growth of technologies associated with the emergence of artificial intelligence, then we are truly entering the era of the Apocalypse,\u201d<\/em> the Patriarch said.<\/p>\n<p>The development of humanity is only possible with the growth of faith and moral sense in people, Kirill stated, warning that otherwise there could be terrible consequences given the rise of technologies. <br \/><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe are approaching an apocalyptic time, this is what we all need to clearly understand,\u201d<\/em> he reiterated. <em>\u201cAnd the only way out of this possible crisis is faith in God, I say it loudly to the whole world. If we renounce faith in God\u2026 nothing will work.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Patriarch warned that AI could pose a real danger to the existence of humanity if it reaches the level of self-improvement.<\/p>\n<p>He acknowledged that <em>\u201cof course, there are dystopian horror stories, when artificial intelligence takes power over all of humanity,\u201d<\/em> stressing, however, that <em>\u201ceverything that concerns artificial intelligence\u2026 is not yet fully understood and realized.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n        <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/news\/599346-pope-francis-ai-g7\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n            <span>READ MORE: <\/span>Pope warns of AI dangers<br \/>\n        <\/a>\n    <\/p>\n<p>The head of the Russian Orthodox Church is not alone in his warning about the potential dangers of the rapid development of AI.
