You get $1,200 in vouchers, a four-star hotel, all meals,\u2019 and before he could even finish his sentence, I was like, \u2018Me, I\u2019ll do it,\u2019&#8221; she said of the credit she received for the first flight that was overbooked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While Berry said she was originally excited to return home, she wasn\u2019t &#8220;ready enough to turn down $1,200 in travel vouchers&#8221; for her next adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Berry said she and eight other passengers \u2014&nbsp;who also had to stay an extra night \u2014&nbsp;were then shuttled to a hotel just outside of Naples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said, &#8220;Everyone else was kind of\u2026 forced to stay, and so I was the only one that was pumped up and kind of rallied the troops together.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Berry decided to document her experience in TikTok videos, one of which now has more than 1.4 million views.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She dubbed the experience, &#8220;Camp American Airlines&#8221; \u2014&nbsp;saying it felt like she was at a day camp with strangers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said the hotel the airline placed them in was nicer than where she had been staying&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/travel\/regions\/europe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in Italy,<\/a>&nbsp;and the free three-course dinner at the hotel made her &#8220;thrilled&#8221; to be there for an extra day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next day, however, the group of stranded passengers were shuttled back to the airport to get on the next flight out to Philadelphia.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;So, I show up, you know, ready to board that flight because I\u2019m going home that day,&#8221; she said. &#8220;But I get there, and I hear the manager again [say], \u2018Oh, we\u2019re overbooked, [and] we need a volunteer.\u2019&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Berry said that after hearing that the airline was offering $1,200 vouchers to stay the night again, she was more than happy to keep the vacation going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said, &#8220;At this point, I started realizing\u2026 I think they\u2019re overbooked for a while and I heard through the grapevine that they were, so that\u2019s when I started thinking about\u2026 I could do this forever \u2014&nbsp;a few days and rack up some good vouchers.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Social media users weighed in on her\u00a0viral TikTok video\u00a0detailing how much in travel vouchers she could potentially make by continuing this extension \u2014\u00a0most of them advising her to go for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One user wrote, &#8220;I wonder what it\u2019s like to be one of God\u2019s favorites.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another agreed, saying, &#8220;Well, that\u2019s a once in a lifetime opportunity.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some users, however, advised Berry to proceed with caution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Do they expire? That would be my issue,&#8221; one TikTok user commented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another said, &#8220;Hold out for the cash instead of vouchers.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">American Airline&#8217;s &#8220;Conditions of carriage&#8221; terms, which an airline representative emailed to Fox News Digital, states, &#8220;We will ask for passengers who are willing to voluntarily give up their seats in exchange for compensation in an amount and form to be determined solely at American\u2019s discretion.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;When you volunteer to give up your confirmed seat on a flight, we will compensate you in a form and in an amount we think is fair,&#8221; the terms, which are also listed on American Airlines&#8217; website, continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Berry said that after her second night at\u00a0the hotel,\u00a0she ended up back at the airport for a third time \u2014\u00a0and the employees there couldn\u2019t help but laugh.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;So, this time, yeah, all of\u00a0the airport\u00a0knows me,&#8221; she told Fox News Digital, adding that employees at the airport said, &#8220;You\u2019re the only person we\u2019ve ever seen this excited about staying behind.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;By that point, I was just the leader of the pack,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Berry collected a $1,150 voucher for her third night of volunteering to stay \u2014&nbsp;but her luck ran out on the fourth day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;To be honest, I\u2019m pretty sure American Airlines caught wind of what I was up to because of the whole TikTok thing,&#8221; Berry said of her now-viral video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Berry said that at the end of the journey, she ended up with $3,550 in travel credits with the airline.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When asked if she would do it again, Berry said, &#8220;I would totally do it again.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said she was in no rush to get home by a specific date, so she felt like she was doing a good deed for someone who needed to be home by a certain time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I\u2019ve got all the time in the world right now,&#8221; she joked.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for how she&#8217;ll use her credits, Berry said she\u2019s looking at booking\u00a0tropical destinations\u00a0such as Rio, the Caribbean and Hawaii, as they would be great spots to photograph.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Pennsylvania woman traveling home from Italy was given thousands in travel credit and a luxury extended stay thanks to an overbooked American Airlines flight.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[14],"tags":[616,614,615,613],"class_list":["post-1181","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-travel","tag-american-airlines","tag-camp-american-airlines","tag-social-media-users","tag-viral-tiktok-video"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
